In short why bother when you can create a honest web affiliate business. There are many different ways of earning affiliate commissions from affiliate programs. In our experience you will have your best chance of success if you do this:
  • Find a niche (preferably around a subject that you know about)
  • Create a useful, interesting, content-rich, keyword-rich website on one topic

Our 18 steps to a successful affiliate business

Set a target. - set a realistic target of how much you want to earn from your site and how much effort you are going to put into it. Say you aim to earn a total of £300 a month in affiliate commissions and AdSense revenue.

Its very important that you set the income you wish to generate from affiliate programs realistic as it can be pretty disheartening if you miss your first target. Achieve small successes first, see your first affiliate program cheque in your hands or in your bank account. When you get this, take my word for it you feel pretty motivated to make the next one bigger. We are aware of one person affiliates earning £250,000 per year in revenue, other small businesses are achieving over a million in revenue per year

Establish the niche for your site. Its important to set target keywords for your site and not be too ambitious to start with. We would all like to be number one on Google for a popular key word such as 'car insurance'. The affiliate commissions this would bring would be fantastic (however, unrealistic)
  • To start with you should probably target less competitive Internet topics because it is very overcrowded and competitive. You are much more likely to succeed if you go for a less competitive niche. You can then try out various techniques and get a feel of the sorts of things you need to do in order to succeed on the search engines.
  • Choose a subject that you find easy to write about. However, depending on your aims you should think carefully about which area to target
Choose a profitable niche. Do some research on keywords to choose a profitable niche from among the list you have you have.

If you are planning to use Google
AdSense, you want to target valuable keywords or key phrases, if possible ones that people are paying at least 20p per click for on Overture and AdWords.

Here are some useful tools for researching which keywords to target

A successful technique is to gradually help your visitor towards purchasing a product through the free affiliate programs you have joined. Start by outlining a problem, discuss a good solution that has worked for you, and end the article with a link that is a call to action, such as a hyperlink that says, "Find out more here."

You should NOT try and sell the product. In some industries you must be even more careful as they mat be regulated e.g. finance and insurance. All you want is for your visitors to ready to buy when they arrive at the merchant's site.

Place Google AdSense ads on your site.

If you have a good, well written and popular site, it is incredibly easy to make an income with AdSense.

Drive traffic to your website .

There are a number of ways to drive traffic to your website

Get links. First, link to other sites that have relevant content to yours and invite those sites to trade links with you.

This is hugely important. Search engines love sites that have many RELEVANT links to them
Content is King - Now you see why we said to build a useful, interesting and content rich web site. If you do that, people are more likely to link to your site. Webmasters are unlikely to link to a page full of banner adverts
List your site in major directories and niche directories in your industry. There are a number of software packages which will make this job easier.

Write articles and send them to article directories trying to persuade newsletters and other sites to publish them . Blogg Links are a method of doing this [more]
Add more pages and get more links. Keep writing and adding useful, interesting, keyword-rich pages and keep encouraging more sites to link to your site.

Be patient.

If your new site is typical, nothing much will happen for the first couple of months or so, and you'll probably become frustrated and find it hard to believe that this is going to work.
